    getting first ball python
hello, so im getting my first ball python in a week or 2, the last few weeks i been just focusing on getting the right stuff to house it properly and wanted to know if i should get anything else or if my setup is good.

40 gal glass tank(i have a lot of decor and stuff so its not too open, so it will feel hidden)
    zoo med under tank heater
2 hides, one on cool and other on hot side
60 watt red light(going to use if needed and at night for viewing)
water bowl big enough to soak in
    thermostat
accurite indoor/outdoor(i read those can work good)
    black background
    cypress mulch
    cage clips

i just wanted input on if i need anything else or need to change anything, i set it up prior to getting snake because i want to make sure i have the temps and humidity right before i actually get the snake.

how old is the snake? because if its a baby that huge cage will stress him/her out

Sounds like you have everything, but that tank is pretty large. If the snake is small, try putting more hides throughout the cage. Pics when you get your snake. Oh and welcome to bp.net.

i was worried about tank size, i already had it. i was trying to add alot of decor so it isnt very visible but would it work if i added more hides or should i just section off part of the tank until it grows

I've heard a way to help with that is to put a small box in there (that will take up like half of the aquarium) or something to make it seem smaller, but yea more stuff in it will help too. And yes welcome to BP.net :D

You could also get a sterilite tub for awhile and put the snake in that and use the tank later when it grows a bit.
