    Getting up to weight...
.... Some of You probably remember my posts about non feeding female (4 months off feed)... now since middle of may she is eating regularly...

I feed live so on purpose i give my snake smaller meals to decrease risk of injury...

She is getting small 60-70g every week. Her weight today was 1110g after shed and defecating so I can assume that's empty weight ;)
I was planing switch her on every 5 day schedule to let her gain some weight because I'll love to breed her this season..

And My question is.. start now??? ... or wait a little??? (till like middle of September of beginning of October)

Thanks in Advance for any advice...

I feed small meals(35-50 grams) as often as they'll take them, especially in the 500 to 1200 gram range.
Large "appropriate" sized meals are a thing of the past for my snakes :)

*sighs* I was forced to buy medium rats today.. Those was around 135 g but rather longer and slim than bulky... both was killed fast and swift... my male is 1250-ish and he eats every 2 weeks so that should be a problem... As female go I hope that this wasn't to big for her...
I sometimes think because she looks like she is always in Hunting mode (not like i complaining) I maybe underfeed her a little???

She gain 150g in the last 2 months and 3 weeks...

I wonder Should i keep her on 7 days schedule and bump size of meal to around 100g rat or keep her on small rats and increase feeding intervals to every 5 days if I want to breed he this season..

    Any thoughts ???

I'm in the same boat and have decided to go with smaller more frequent meals. I have no doubts my gals will go for me this season.

Haha I love my snakes, they're like that ALL the time :P as for the question, I'd start the 5 day schedule sooner rather than later, but that's just me. Given her reaction to the bigger rat, I don't think you'll have a feeding problem with her for another while ;)

All of mine adults can eat medium rats. But on advice of others, instead of feeding a medium once a week, I feed 2 smalls twice a week on a Monday and Thursday schedule.

I also stick with the smaller, more frequent meals. I usually feed my girls small rats (even sometimes weaners) once a week. If they'll take 2 or 3, they get 2 or 3 (usually only when in breeding). I found when I fed 'appropriate' sized rats, they weren't as interested in food and skipped a lot of meals.

I have been feeding 1 small rat every 5 days with great success and believe this to be working better for me then 1 appropriate sized rat once a week as well. Seem to have better and more routine feeding response at least for me with this method. I'm happy and my bp seems to be as well so I'm sticking with it! :gj:
