    Dissenfecting with Bleach?
Is it all right too clean out the water dish, hides and tubs with some bleach?

I put two teaspoons of bleach in 500ml of water in a spray bottle, sprayed everything and rinsed well.

    SHopuld this be ok?

I honestly wouldn't use such a harsh chemical to clean my reptiles things with, but that is just me. I'm sure someone else can be of more help. :)

I use a VERY strong bleach and vinegar solution to clean my bowls

I do it every week and rinse well

Air dry and good to go

You'll find that bleach is a staple amongst a very large number of reptile keepers

it is fine just make sure there is no residue left. Use your nose if it is not bleach smelling it is likely good. Give your self an air break before doing a smell test ... ;)

Yes you can use bleach like said above make sure you clean then let air out for a bit before putting the snakes back in i have never had a problem.

I think problems happen when people never used bleach before and use it straight or mix some crazy bleach to water ratio and don't let air out.

the article about states two ways that work for cleaning cages enjoy

I've always used Clorox (which is basically bleach) or diluted bleach to clean my tubs, bowls, hides and have never had any problems. I spray it down, wipe it with a wet rag to make sure that all the surfaces are covered, rinse REALLY well, and then either let it air dry or dry it with a clean towel.

I just got a 2' x 3' cage and obviously I'd have problems rinsing it out, so I bought chlorhexadine to use in it, but I still use clorox on the hides and water bowl.

Be sure to use the bleach in the correct dilution - more doesn't mean better cleaning power - and you should be fine. When I was a keeper we used bleach for a lot of our animal enclosures and as long as it is well rinsed and dried there was never a problem.
