A wrecked tip has nothing to do with breeding, and if he is a normal male, he was not bred at all likely (very few, except that smallest of the small breeders, would bred a normal male).

And by small I do not mean that in a pejorative way, just a complete hobby breeder.

Snakes can lose the tips of their tails to bites, to infections, to stuck/constricting sheds. Could be that he was a wild caught snake, and it happened before he came into captivity.

    All pure speculation.

But he is fine, it looks healed, those blackened scales will disappear (mostly) with time.

I have rehabbed many adult rescue BPs and most of them come with varying degrees of blackened scales/skin and rarely do they have a full tail.

    Good luck with him btw.

Do you have any of his history?

Oh no, I'm not talking about the tale tips. I am talking about the light pink bubble near his vent!

Poor guy. I've never dealt with prolapse in my collection before but that's certainly what it looks like. Do you have a good herp vet in your area? They would be better able to tell you what's going on there.

I think the OP means the little bump coming out of the vent. I'm not sure what it is but it looks like it's just an inflamed piece of tissue that may have hardened if it's been there awhile.

My Leucistic has something like that and he's only bred one or 2 girls per season and always been kept in the best conditions. It's never flared up and just looks like a tiny piece of extra tissue that is barely noticeable.

In your case, keep an eye on it. If it doesn't flare up or do anything strange, it's probably nothing. If it flares up, turns red, gets bigger, or anything out of the ordinary, it's time for a trip to an exotics vet.

I should say though.. In my case, it isn't actually inside the vent so much as it's a tiny bit of extra tissue on the inside edge of the vent. If what yours is, is actually coming from within the vent and seems attached to the tissue inside, it may need checking out.

I totally missed that... I agree with monica it looks OK (to me at least)... pop him if his "penes" look good he is probably fine.

I have dealt with a prolapse and it does not look like one to me.

PS: I should add I have not dealt with that, so I am just speculating. It may be something very specific and someone might have an exact idea of what it is.

Not near, but he's good on the wallet and owns snakes himself. I saw it start small now it's like, bam! His hemi's are good though??

Prolapsed rectum maybe? Or a cyst? Whatever it is, I hope it's something that can be treated and doesn't cause any trouble for your guy.

It's not on the hemi side, it's more like on the other end where you would put ur thumb as if popping. It's like under a scale.
