    BP growth ?
I have a year old male normal and he is already 3feet long. Do you think he is going to get any bigger (longer)? He still sheds every month and still eats like a horse (no refusal of food). He weighs around 820 grams.

Reason I ask is I read that bps grow a foot a year until they are full grown and... well he's only just turning one. Ive had mixed opinions some say he's done growing others say he's going to be a monster. I dont care if he is done i wouldnt mind if he grows some more i was just trying to figure out what other breeders thought

    Thanks :)

Only time will tell - but I'd imagine at 820g that there is still some room to grow. It may not get longer, but it will thicken out.

I would say of course he will get a bit bigger.
Ive never heard of anything wiritten in stone that a BP will grow until a certain point in his life and just stop. They will definintly go up and down in weight throughout the year.
Normally females will be heavier and seem to grow differently from males in my experiences with my snakes anyways.
to grow to 800g in the first year is a pretty good growth rate. I would say he may start to slow down a little but you never know! Snakes are individuals!
Also do you know for sure its a male?

Ball pythons might grow a foot a year at first but they slow way way down after that.
800 grams is a good weight gain for a male that is 1 year old but you'll see after he gets a little bigger his growth will start to slow down dramatically.

This boy is a big boy, he's a 9 years old clown, around 2200 grams and about 4 1/2 feet.
Big males are excellent breeders and make for fun pets.

I agree to everything said. I would fully expect him to get bigger than that. And SnakesRKewl.. Nice Clown! :gj::gj:

I have a male normal that is a little over a year old and he is approximately three feet long and he weighs 1032 grams. His growth as far as length has slowed down considerably but he is still gaining a nice amount of weight and I am 100% certain that he is a male. Growth varies with each individual snake.

Ok so pretty much he may or may not get any more length I know he is going to get quite a bit wider but wasnt sure on the length. And yes he is definitely a boy breeder had them sexed before i got there (though i had wanted a girl ;) )

And pet wise he is pretty awesome and i couldnt ask for a better behaved snake as i work in a petstore and handle rats, fish, birds, mice around him constantly and he never tries to eat my hand or the other rodents i am grabbing.

BUT--- He has started to occasionally "mouth" me... he gently grabs my hand below my thumb closes just enough for me to feel his teeth then opens again and thats it no marks no clenching just mouthing... (IS THIS NORMAL????) I have searched everywhere for an answer to this new habit he has just started he has done 2 times on 2 seperate days...
