Re: New BP Owner and Mites
I personally have used extra virgin olive oil and covered her completely. I leave that on her until she sheds. It suffocates the mites and she sheds them off. I have done this in the past without complications. Although I am not a pro or anything just what Ive done in the past.
Re: New BP Owner and Mites
Thanks Guys. I got the PAM yesterday and as soon as I got home I soaked her again. This time I say a lot of the mites in the water. Then I transferred her to holding while I took care of what is to be known as her "hospital ward" tank. I cleaned it AGAIN. Hit it with PAM. Let it dry/air out. Hit the paper towels with it too and let them dry/air. Etc. Etc. So far this morning I see no mites on the paper towels. I'm going to keep her in this tank for a few days until I can be sure the problem is gone. Mean while, I'll be continuing the super clean out of her regular habitat.
The other half has had a good laugh seeing all the huge pots filled with hot water on the stove and various fake plants and her caves submerged.
I am so glad I found this forum. It has been a wealth of information.
