Some of my favorites in my Colony
Haven't posted any pics from my little Rat colony that feeds a dozen snakes quite yet so I thought I would share some cute photos. Anyone feel free to chime in with genetics.. only been breeding for 3 or 4 months so I'm still rusty on breeds. Here ya go! I just picked up some fun one's also (all females here btw, so looking forward to reproducing with them soon) :)

    1. Cute little 3 week old or so..

    2. Albino Dumbo? Red eyes and big ears!

    4. This Blue Girl has a White belly and Red Eyes, so Albino Blue? Or do all Blues have Red eyes?

    Sweet pics, thanks for sharing

    My guesses on genetics...

    1. Beige Baldie
    2. RED(Red Eye White)
    Blue Variegate w/Possum Blaze
    3. Black Double Rex
    4. Ruby? eye blue I think ~ Blues carry all of the red eye recessive eye colors, pink, red, ruby. but they are predominately black eyed rats.
Blazed blue rats tend to have red, ruby or pink eyes, but not always.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think a Red eyed or Pink eyed Blue would be a Platinum. Which is blue diluted with the albino gene? Am I right? It's not a gene I've worked with, but I've currently got a Platinum project I'm starting within a few weeks. Growing up a few females for it now.

And thank you for sharing those photos! That top one is such a cutie!!!

If I remember correctly, now that you said that, I could have sworn when I bought all these girls from the East Bay Vivarium here in the Bay Area that the guy said she was a Platinum. And that I should be really happy about that. haha.

Thanks for the compliments! And the info!

Also there is no such things as an 'albino blue' or albino anything. :P
Albino is albino, there are no markings or colours on an albino. An albino is white. :)

UNLESS and only in amazingly exceptional circumstances does it happen, but sometimes you can get an animal that is part albino, and part coloured, and these are called transgenic or somatic mutations or chimeras. ;)

Aren't the Russian blues the ones that usually have the black eyes while the American blues have the ruby eyes? Plus the American blues look more silver/grey when younger?

At least that's what mine look like. Unless I've been classifying my American blues wrong.
