    Custom cage heating and sealing?
Hello yall I am building a custom cage for my brother and newly unwanted sister in law  Searched the forums couldn't really find the answers I was looking for. Two quick questions.

One : What's everyone think about using a heat panel for a BP. I have one for the chondro and it works fine but being a aboreal snake it's great for it. I have freedom breeder racks for my BP's and other's. Just wondering if everyone suggests belly heat. I am trying to make this cage look clean so the newly unwanted sister in law doesn't complain that it look's "tacky". her description of the boaphile cage. Nothing against the boaphile crew. :D

Two : Sealing the cage for humidity and etc. I have seen some cages with tile and some with vinyl. Is there a sealant to use to place over the stain. That's not going to harm the BP not seap through etc. Again trying to make this a clean and non "tacky" cage.

    Thank's all

    Welcome to BP.net :colbert2:

Check out the DIY section in the forums, there are alot of great housing ideas there.

My advice to the brother......he needs to nip this in the bud, cause it will only get worse, it always does after the I do's.

HAHA I just noticed that there is a caging forum I am going to search through that tomorrow. Search was only popping up stuff in Husbandry.

I am sure he will work through it. He got his cabin and she gets to decorate the inside. Atleast she's letting him keep his BP. She already has made her voice heard towards me and the tackiness of freedom breeder rack's and my boaphile. So I have thought about making some molds and setting up some tub's in carbon fiber and painting the rack's to match to make them extra tacky:D

heat panels work fine as long as they deliver the correct temps. Sealing stained wood a good exterior grade varnish would do it give it a week or so to out gas. Two part epoxy (west system or any of the others) would make an extremely hard wearing finish but costly.

Heres one we did and it dont look tacky ;). Its interior is made from a 2 part epoxy finish over Asian Birch plywood. We get this plywood prefinished for apx 35 bucks a sheet.
