What is a che?

i keep seeing it mentioned in different threads.... but i have no idea what they are.

They are a ceramic heat emitter - sort of like a heat bulb but no light is emitted. Used to heat the cage.

And they last forever.. I have one that I've been using for 2 years. At first it was for night heat for my dragon when he was a baby and now I use it for my scorpions. If you don't knock them around, they are MUCH more cost effective than light bulbs and put out high amounts of heat at a lower wattage than a heat lamp of equal wattage without wicking out as much humidity. Also better for BPs being kept in aquariums considering they are nocturnal and don't appreciate bright lights anyway.

^ Yuppers. Typically these are used in "Aquarium Style" setups for raising ambient air temperatures or for basking in other species. These sorts of devices can get extremely hot and should be used with a rheostat or light dimmer to control the amount of heat that they produce. Also, a CHE will typically reduce your humidity less than an Infrared Bulb, however both will reduce your humidity levels.
