    New hatchling pastel?
So I had a mystery clutch. The female Genevieve wasn't listed as being bred this season(she was bred to two codoms last season) but she surprised me with 3 eggs. One egg went bad immediately, then very late, a second egg turned blue and nasty, while egg #3 looked "iffy".

Egg #3 pipped about two days ago. Tiny head poking out.. and wouldn't emerge but looked pastel-y. I came home monday to see a tail, so I opened the bin to see this...

First time I've seen a hatchling poke the tail and head out without emerging. More proof these little guys try to give us anuerisms.

Finally emerged, but it was still attached to a little goo with a thin umbilical, so I left it alone. It's still got a stub of umbilicial attached, so it's in a little tupperware with damp paper towels back into the incubator to ensure good solid temps for another couple days.

Now the full on pics. One has full flash, the other either less flash or no flash, I lost track of which pics had flash.

Is this just a smoking pastel? Or is there something going on beyond "just" a pastel? And yes, that light streak down the whole back does appear blushing? just like on the head. Crazy looking. I know I'll be waiting until after the first shed at least, see if it darkens up or what. The big belly should just be the newly absorbed yolk(I hope, it's not hard at least) so I'm hoping that it makes it just fine.

No weight, no sex yet. I didn't want to stress it any more than absolutely needed right now. It's very placid but was exploring the egg bin so it's active. This is actually the first pastel I've ever hatched in fact! Other morphs yes, never an actual pastel.

Wow, that is a beautiful animal, seriously smokin' pastel.

A pastel that looks like a super and comes out with a black black... it will be interesting to see if the black back is genetic (unless I missed something where you stated it was).

Congrats on such a nice snake.
