would need to know more about your "husbandry" to tell you how you're doing. What is your cage temp, warm side? cooler side? what is your humidity in the cage- do you have a hygrometer or are you guesstimating? Do you have at least 2 identical hides for him / her. What about water bowl, other "cover" in the cage. Is he feeding?

Looking at the snake, I see what appears to be a healthy snake. He might be getting ready to go into shed, as he appears hazy in spots to me; or, then again, that might just be camera lighting :)

I have 2 hides one on both sides of the tank and the bedding I'm not sure of the type of wood but it's supposed to hold the humidity. The water bowl is changed every other day and yes he feeds on live mice every week. The temp is always around 80-85 on the cool side and I have a uth with I keep on for 2 hours and turn it off because it reaches 100+ on the glass under the bedding, and when I got him he was in the middle of shedding so should I raise the humidity to around 80% for the shed?

Either get a rheostat or thermostat to control your uth

    Everything sounds great!

Although you will definitely need a thermostat for that UTH. Most thermostats are expensive, but the cheapest yet decent thermostat to buy is the ReptiTemp 500R.

I currently have two of these in use and they work just fine. Getting them set up may be a little tricky, but I'm sure there are several threads on here about how to get em set up. If not, you can always send me a PM if you do happen to purchase one.

Switching to appropriate sized rats would also be beneficial as well.
    How are you measuring temp?

I'm using rheostats and hate em, wishing I was on thermostats.
I'd switch but I have a rack in the works and I plan on getting a higher quality one for that.

It's hard to maintain a ball python on nothing but mice, especially if they refuse to eat more than one in a feeding. Switching to rats will make things easier. He's not really skinny, but he could use a bit more meat on his bones, IMO.
