I doubt it's rare. Sounds like you either have satin blue, or satin dove or lilac.

    Pictures would help.

I have some similar to what you're describing. They're a silvery blue color and either darker or lighter, but the one's I've had born have red eyes and are out of a T+ albino parents. I can get pictures up later on if anyone wants to see mom, dad and baby.

Like Rhas said.. The Satin coat type is what makes them shiny. The color is probably blue or dove.

If you can post a photo of a group of them in a white bowl with a good camera, I bet you can get a definite answer.

They are called Satin, genotype (sa/sa). They come in EVERY colour a mouse can come in, and can also be bred on top of any other coat type, including hairless, though you would never see it on a hairless' body. ;)

On a hairless mouse, a way to tell if it is satin is to look at the teeth. The teeth on any satin mouse will be pure white, whereas a non-satin mouse will have orange teeth.

White and gray are also not mouse colour names, what you are probably referring to is PEW, and blue. :)

Rhas.. Are there different types of blues in mice like there are in rats? Like I currently breed Russian blue rats and American blue ruby eyed rats. Are there differences in mice also?

No. In mice there are several colours that look blue, but are all different genes except lilac.

Lilac is a combination of blue, and chocolate on a mouse.

    Blue is a simple recessive.

Dove is black with pink eye dilution.

Silver is blue with pink eye dilution.

There is also blue roan, which looks like a blue mouse with gray speckles.
    :)
    Hope that helps!
