HUGE accomplishment.

my baby ball python ate live pinkys for the second time. This time i presented it to him with tongs and he took it the first time!

soon i will start using F/T

when should i change to feeding him F/T?

Congrats :) Live pinkies are usually too small for any ball hatchling though, unless they have trouble feeding. How big is your baby gram wise?

i actually have not gotten a scale for him yet. he is a little older than 3 months. and yes i meant pinky rats.

also. is it true that live food offers more nutrients than F/T?

i see i see. so it is beneficial to keep him on live food until he is a certain size (gram wise).? and to just keep feeding him with the tongs. and then when he is bigger change to F/T.

i would just like him to have as much nutrients as possible as a young snake.

I'd get him eating well before mixing it up and switching him over. You don't want to set yourself back now that you are having some success. Life is pretty stressful on the little ones. Get him nice and plump first.

I feed F/T and just started breeding rats. IMO I like feeding F/T feeders last long, don't have to worry about parasites transmitting to snake from feeder, a snake feeding on F/T should have no problem accepting live, but most won't go the other way around.

Everyone has their own preference. However if you do switch to F/T I would feed him some live or pre-killed for a few weeks then start feeding F/T. I'm not an expert, but I'm sure someone will correct me or provide a better solution.
