    Northeast Lab Pine for Rats?
I recently found a distributor near Washington DC that sells Zeigler rodent food and since I'm going to be making to the trip there I figured I'd pick up some pine bedding while I'm there.

I called and asked what kinds they carried and they said they keep Northeast Lab Pin made by the company NEP-CO in stock.

I've never heard of this brand (or company). Has anyone heard of this particular pine product or this company? I'm guessing since it has lab in the name it's meant for lab animals and will be safe to use with my rats but I'm not 100% and just wanted to ask here is anyone is familiar with this brand of pine?

I sell NEP-co in my store...
Good stuff, and cheap. No big chunks, very consistant product.

Personally, from almost 3 years of experience, Pine is awesome. You HAVE to get the stuff that doesn't have chemicals in it though, or it will hurt their respiratory system.

Secondly, the BEST, I mean BEST, in my opinion, is Pine Pellets. It's like freakin kitty litter, easy to clean. You literally dump the tub and it all comes out. Pine shavings tend to make your rats a little more dirty (dirty fur/coat), but again, this is just my opinion.

Food wise, go with Mazuri. It's a bit more pricey, but it will increase your production, and you'll have some fat pinks in the end.

    Just my $0.02

Thanks, I've heard many good things about pine, I'm just not sure about this NEP-CO stuff. There there is a place near me selling it and I'm just curious if anyone has tried it.

For food I was going to go with Mazuri but from what I've heard Zeigler is a little better quality wise than Mazuri.
