eggs on light diffuser ?

i set up my egg tub with just vermiculite, but after 2 weeks i decided to put in a piece of the white light diffuser stuff to keep the eggs up and off of the vermiculite. they looked ok before but now they look perfect. the only problem is when i pull the egg tub out of the incubator to check on the eggs and open the tub to let air in, i have to be very carefull or the eggs will roll back and forth and hit each other and the sides of the tub.

Has anyone had this problem?
Did you fix it in someway?
Do i even need to open the tub every couple days to let fresh air in?

use those paper clamp thingys

popsicle sticks...broken and put into the squares to wedge the eggs in place

i will try them and see how it goes. i was thinking about using toothepicks but i was worried about puncturing an egg. thanks

or straws will work, cut & bend :)

It's not likely to hurt them, anyhow. The 'don't turn the eggs' thing has been shown to be a myth, when tested. Once they get well into incubation, they tend to lose some water, and then they won't roll (though this doesn't always happen, lol).

I remember a thread on here where one guy turned his eggs everyday just to test the myth and he hatched out babies just fine but with this being my first clutch I want to get everything right. Thanks everyone

about the airing out of the egg boxes...I seal the boxes with Press and Seal and do not touch them until about a week before they are due to hatch. At this time I remove the Press and Seal and put back the top of the egg box. It's worked very well so far from me....some people believe in airing it out, I personally do not...

ya thats what i did. but i was opening it every couple days to let air in and then sealing it again, but now im not going to. then i dont have to worry about eggs rolling, which i really dont have to worry about anyway. im just trying to learn and get this right.
