Does anyone breed or keep viper boas? I have a male who is absolutely sweet and I just want to know what kind of colors there are or albinos or anything I think they would be amazing if there are albinos being bred though I know they are hard to breed in captivity

I have one female that has the personality of a bp, i was worried about all people saying there mean and what not but the only time i see that is when i feed. :O Ive done a little research and only to find that very very few people breed them. from my understanding they can be a pain to get eating but defiantly not impossible, guess people just don't wanna deal with it.

as far as colors albinos would be great! unfortunately there all dull brown red and black.

More pics and links to care sheets or general care information would be appreciated. It's hard to find anything about them.

I had looked into them a couple years ago but backed out of getting any when I found out they rarely live long in captivity and there are so few CB babies out there. I also read that they are not forgiving if husbandry issues and stress easily.

Im waiting a few mire years until I can collect enough firm data proving people are able to keep these long term before getting into them.

Same thing with ring neck snakes and sunbeam snakes. They were all the craze at shows but they drop like flies when you get them home. If more than just a lucky few of these animals actually survived a reasonable number of years then they would be worth having.

We have two that are about 4 months old now. They were from a gravid import. They are hard to keep in captivity and are not for new keeper. They will die in a warm room or on heat. We have had luck to far and both eat good.

That's why I got ahold of you guys and asked for info and for you to let me know how they do for awhile. Im thinking the ones born in captivity may do better as long as the husbandry is kept right. I just hope the other people here realize that they don't do well if they are handled or if they are not allowed a deep, semi-humid substrate to hide in.

I think they are fascinating and I wish there was more info out there on them. I do. I just don't want to jump into getting one unless I'm certain it will do well. I've seen too many other people say they've gotten one and then it just died, or gotten blisters like the sunbeams and ring necks do and just stop eating.
