Free ball python

Hey I just had to tell ppl my good news that i got yesterday..... I got a call from my friend Rico,and he tells me that he's going to give me a adult female pastel,BUT there is a catch I have to get her to eat she wont eat for him so can somebody help me out and give me some advice on how to get her to eat.....:-)

Make sure the temps are perfect, it needs to have two hides that make it feel secure. Feed at night. Don't feed in a seperate container. Try offering live first, then switch it to frozen once it eats a couple of times...just be patient I've had my ball python for a month and it still hasn't eaten. And only offer food every 7 days. My adult female pastel goes like 3 weeks without eating and then she will eat like 2 or 3 small rats, then 3 weeks to a month again before she will eat. You just need to learn her eating habits. Some snakes only eat mice, or ASF's, I even have some snakes that seem to only eat black rats. As long as she is at a healthy weight I wouldnt worry about it. I have had snakes fast for 3 moths before then all the sudden they were pounding live rats.

Ok thank you all I will try everthing.... yea he is a good friend and the crazy thing is I just meat him about a mouth ago and he just sold me a yellow belly for $50 but I feel like I known him for a long time.

Is there any chance she is Gravid??? sometimes females will refuse to eat after they are gravid and if he is a breeder there maybe a chance you might want to ask him if there is even a slim chance she is. if not then balls can just be picky eaters, worst then kids what was once their fav. food they refuse it eat and sometimes it comes down to what you are feeding them I have a ball that refuses to eat all white rodents but even a lil color in them and he is all over it and I used to have a ball that refused to eat anything but hampsters not sure why but they are as inexpensive as mice so I didn't mind.. Good luck :) gotta love the free snakes I just scored a free female with a 40gal breeder tank and all the lights myself just a few days ago.:D

I gotten bps that were "none eating" and have them eating withing 24 hours.

I found if got everything set up and running when you recieive te snake and give it sevearl hours to calm down they work out great even if there a health issue as most the time ( in my cases ) the previous owner didn't have something set up right.
