Opinions Please

I'm going for people's opinions on the gentlest Boa's and the most aggressive Boa's. I have A Nic Boa that at times is fine and today I thought I had Beelzebub in the tub, striking hissing mouth open. Yikes. I dealt with it of course. So Name your favorites for good and bad.

Of all the dif Boas that I have kept over the years, the most aggressive one was a female Argentine. She was a liitle beast for about a day. After that she became a beautifully tame lady .

The most friendly right from the start was my favorite Boa I have ever had. She was just a plain old BCI from the pet store ( back when I bought Boas and Pythons from pet stores that is ).

She never hissed or struck at me or anyone else. EVER. Not even in the blue.

I have held tame Yellow Annies .....and a green that I wasn't sure if it would nail me or not.

I just think it all depends on the snake. Heck , one year I hatched out some corn snaked that were little devils for a while -LOL !

All in all, I think Boas are mostly gentle. ......but I never had an ATB either !

I've never been bit by my Dumeril's boa. She's a little over six feet and still growing (though wont be too much bigger). She's mellow and sweet.

I'm permanently caring for two BCCs. Salt and Pepper are eleven and nine feet. The female (nine foot) is friendly and no problem. Pepper, the male, is eleven feet of temperamental snark. I don't trust him and have to make sure that when I'm working with him that he has all of my attention.

I really don't have any other boa experience other than a great rosy and Kenyan boa that my friend owns. I haven't seen any that were bad tempered but one or two may be out there.

In summery: Dumeril's rock.

I was leaning towards Dumerils or Hog Island.

Well the most agressive boa that ive is an female red tail bpa,and a baby hog island boa,and i haved a nice male red tail boa but he was easy to manage,and he never try'd to bite me.....:gj:

The nicest/gentlest boas I've ever met were a plain BCI male (there was some speculation as to whether he was part Nic. or Hogg Island and part Columbian cause he was a little guy :P) and a salmon BCI (Columbian) female.

I love the Nicaraguans because of how exciting it is to not know what your snake is going to be like one day to the next :P but I think the meanest boa I ever met was in fact another Columbian BCI, younger, and we had to actually toss a blanket over him and hold him down so he wouldn't nail us in the face. He was so into striking at us that he would lift 2/3 of his body and kind of jump forward with every strike :O

So it seems to just depend on the boa, because in just Columbian BCI's you can see, I've met both extremes :P

I meant to tell you I changed my mind and I'm getting a Hog from Vin Russo.

I would say the meanest I have handled/worked with was a peruvian red tail male but the majority of them werent too bad. the the shockingly was a male brb. so i think it is more dependent on the snake itself then a species.

In fact the only snake i have ever been bitten by was a rosy boa... my fault i triggered a feed response and normally they were very tame.

nicest would be madagascar tree boas(all of them were very tame), or the big peruvian female i worked with. so there were extremes within the same species.

and this was just my experience. So again I think it is more the individual animal then a certain type.

sandboa's are very tame to(you dont see em 90% of the time anyway :p )
havent got any problems with my constrictors to but hey i only got em a few days
