Snake mites new snake, what to do?

Picked up a snake for about $300 the other day, and just discovered snake mites on her. Got her QT in another part of the house so hoping for no spread. Should I return the snake, treat it or what? Just want to know what you would do?

Keep on newspaper or paper towels.

i wouldnt just use pam. soak them in a tub of water with a few drops of soap as well everyday.
Newspaper and paper towels ftw as bedding, and clean the cage every 3days with windex. after that spray it down with the anti mite spray. then sprinkle tiny amounts of anti mite powder.

you must be super diligent in this and even if you think it is safe to stop treatment, keep doing it for another 2weeks at a minimum

Edit and quarintine the animal to a completely different room as the mites can climb out of most tanks!

I have always used pam in my enclosures and it has worked great for me. It is the only product that I will use. Just make sure you follow the directions.

PAM is also the only product I will ever use if I get mites again. It's great stuff, and I guarantee that you'll be free of mites if you use it (and follow all of the instructions properly)!

But in the meantime while waiting for the PAM to come.

1. Pick up some nix or equate lice bedding spray.

2. soak your snake in a container of tepid water, with a couple of drops of dawn liq detergent, for about 30 minutes.

3. while snake is soaking, clean enclosure & all of it's contents thoroughly and lightly spray enclosure, allow to air out for 45minutes to an hour, replace water dish etc.

4. Replace snake.

5. repeat above steps in 1 week.

$300 and it has mites?? I hope you informed the breeder. That's awful.

just make sure you take it serious and quarantine and be diligent
