How much would you ask for her?
Long story short, I took this girl in as a rescue, and now that she's doing fine I've been considering selling her (I'd give her away but my parents say that they want me to sell her...)

She's a motley anery, just over 3 foot, eats like a champ. She can be a little nippy, but it isn't too bad usually.

How much do you think is a reasonable amount to ask?

Depends on what the prices are like in Montreal. You could probably start at 75 for just her and see what kind of offers you get? She's a pretty snake but not quite as colorful as some corns you can get for the same price, depends on who buys it for what reasons I guess!

if you want to give her away give her away. Your parents should have no say in whether you sell an animal or give it away. If its that big of a deal sell it for $1. But I honestly dont care for corn snakes so its hard but I would guess $40.

I think 40 is a little low for Canadian prices, she's nearly an adult and female so she's worth more than hatchling rates definitely. However if you just want to unload her 40 will probably move her very quickly on something like Kijiji.

Thansk for the advice! I was also considering trying to sell/give her to a local reptile store (SUPER nicely kept though, the people are great and know what they're doing). Would you think that'd be a better idea than just plain kijiji?

I ask because I know those people breed their own stock, so they might want her for her genetics, whereas most people look on kijiji for pets, and I have some doubts that the average person would enjoy a pet like her (I do, but that's cause I think being bitten every now and then is cute haha :P)

    So why unload her then?

Because I'm running out of space in my home and because I was keeping her as a pet but I'm starting to feel that if I can find someone who would be interested in using her as a breeder or someone who's heavy duty into corns could get a lot more enjoyment out of her. I like her, but I was never big on corns and just took her in because I wanted to get her the better care that she needed, but now that she's on the mend, I need to make some room in the collection for some other snakes. Another thing is we just had a big scare with my mother's health, so to help keep the stress levels down a bit while she's recovering I think a collection reduction would be a good idea, and I know someone who loves corns would really enjoy her.

It's up to you but I don't think it will be too hard to place her as a pet even if she is fiesty. There's plenty of people who like corns and plenty more hobby keepers that aren't afraid of a corn bite ;) It might be you'll give her away to a pet store and they'll most likey turn around and sell her themselves unless she is particularly useful in their breeding projects?

Just because she's an unusual colour doesn't mean someone won't treat her well as a pet =] unless you're worried you won't get as much money as someone who recognizes the genetic value.

Thanks everyone for the answers! @Sugarbone, I was just thinking that because she is a morph there was an even higher chance of someone wanting her and giving her a good home, either as a breeder or a pet.

I wound up giving her to a guy at a really top notch reptile store locally (because I had every confidence that he'd take care of her in the mean time like he takes care of all the other animals at his shop) and she's on consignment, so whatever she sells for, I get a part of it. :)
