    Snakes VS Planes
Okay, basic scenario: I'm looking into moving closer to my work. I've found a couple different apartment complexes that aren't half bad, are close to work, and in my price range.

One thing though. They're both within a mile of an airport (which explains the prices).

I can stand the noise, give me a week and I won't notice it anymore, but something occured to me.

I hope to start keeping balls and perhaps a boa in that time. So my question is this:

Will the vibrations of the planes taking off and landing bother them?

I don't want to keep animals in an environment that has them constantly stressed, so I wanted to know whether they'd be able to tolerate it.

If not, I'd rather write those complexes off and look for a different one. I won't risk the health of creatures under my care just to save a few bucks.

SO! From more experienced keepers: your thoughts?

Well my dad lives about 3 miles away from a huge airport and we hear the planes but have gotten used to them, and the windows and stuff don't vibrate so I don't think it would affect rather a minor annoyance.

How large is the airport (big airport, big planes)? Have you been in one of the apartments when a plane comes in or takes off? Do the windows rattle - is it that bad?

The airport is medium sized, I would guess. Large planes use it (my work is a couple miles away on the other side, we have planes go overhead all the time).

I'm still in the 'looking up places to go look at in person' stage, I haven't been in either of the apartments, so I wouldn't know about the windows rattling. I would say that they're both within half a mile of the airport, and the planes would be going directly overhead.

I wanted to figure out if it would be worth it at all to go look at them, due to this. If not, I can save my time and go back to looking up other places further away.

I have F-16s fly over my house every day, and I don't even notice them anymore. My little guy doesn't seem to be bothered by them either, so you should be fine.

Good to know. I suppose I'll have to visit and see, if it's bad enough to rattle the windows, I'll assume it would bother the snakes. If it doesn't, snakes should probably be fine.

    Thanks for the help, everyone!

Yeah, just a teensy bit. I'm an avid reader (seriously, I learned how to read when I was two), and I enjoy writing in my spare time. I can get a little verbose without noticing it, since I'm used to roleplay forums where I type out ginormous posts.
