Every time I look at Craigslist I wish I was rich...
Lately it seems like all the stupid people in my area are trying to rehome their ball pythons on craigslist. Today alone I saw two ads that made me wish I could save them all. In the first ad (which has been reposted a lot in the past month or two) the person states they are using heat rock and in the second they say they are only feeding their BP 1-2 time per month. :tears:

I'm starting to feel guilty for buying morphs from breeders when I could start a craigslist rescue with that money... :(

Edit: And in both ads it appears neither snake has hides. :(

Its definitely tough seeing people have such awesome animals and not even know how to care for them or take the time for them.

I feel that...If I had the money, I might have an entire room in my place full of bps

As sad as it is that there are so many rescues in very deplorable conditions, it doesn't affect my feelings for supporting the breeders I buy from. Colin Weaver did a very good article on that sort of issue here. I take comfort in the fact that I care for my animals as well as I possibly can, and when I can I show my friends and people I meet resources to guide them in taking better care of their animals.

But it is really heartbreaking to see some of the craigslist ads that show up. I know how ya feel

To play devils advocate i only feed my mature males 2 times a month and only a select few of my snakes have hides, most do not

While there may be problems with their husbandry, these may not be. Hot rock however i see no good coming from it. Even at safe temps they dont heat a tub correctly, let alone the glass tanks i always see them in.

I'm willing to bet you keep your snakes in a rack though. That particular ad showed a picture of the snake in a tank and none of the sides were blacked out. I can't imagine a BP being happy in a glass cage with no where to hide. The feeding wasn't as bad as it could be, but I think a BP should eat more than once a month. They also said they were feeding something like 7 mice per feeding so it was being feed enough when it was fed. It wasn't the worst ad out there, but I still feel bad for the snake.
