First time feeding was a success!

We finally fed Parker and he took the mouse with no problems whatsoever. It took him a few minutes to take it in the first place. I'm very happy with the fact he ate the on the first try!!
The only thing is I took one if his hides out to make room when we fed, and now he is balled up in that section of the tank. the problem is that the way the hide is constructed, i can't just place it back on top of him. will he move eventually to the other hide? the one i removed was the one on the cool side. i don't want to try to put it back in until he moves out of the way.

Just move him, he'll be ok

:gj::gj::gj:...Congrats. That is a big deal. Was it f/t or live? Hope your step son got to see it.

it was f/t. i thawed it in the fridge all day, then let it get to room temperature, then ran over it with the blow dryer just before feeding him. and yes my step-son got to see it, and the next door neighbor who is also 3 1/2. it was very exciting.

Cool, I love to see the excitement in their faces

Congrates my boy just ate for me for the first time. He was moved to rats by the breeder before I got him. Luckily I have a shop near me that has small live rat pups.

I was pretty excited too when my new BP ate last Friday.

Parker actually grabbed the mouse more than once. The first time he grabbed it, the boys were watching and i think they scared him. They both leaned in towards the enclosure quickly and he dropped the mouse. So my bf picked it up again with the tongs and made it dance some more. When he grabbed it the 2nd time he grabbed it sideways. I was worried he wasnt going to figure it out that he had to turn it around because he kept trying for a good 5 minutes to eat it longways. Obviously he figured it out on his own.
He also didn't constrict around it at all. I know he got it down ok, but is that normal for f/t? he kinda just grabbed it and stayed in position, and like lifted his neck higher to swallow. actually, he didn't strike at it really either. the first time he KINDA did. but the second time he basically just reached up for it slowly and latched on.

Well, our normal didn't wrap the f/t the first few times we fed him but now he wraps it up like he's smothering it himself. It's pretty funny because he holds it for quite a few minutes. I figure as long as he eats it's all good.
