Ultra-therm as sole heat source during the winter months??
Hello guys / gals....
I house my Borneo python in my wife and I's bedroom. She is in a sterilite tub with a Ultra-therm heat pad ( with thermo ). She is about 2 feet long.
In the cooler winter months ahead would it be possible to use that ulta-therm placed under ALL OF THE TUB and set to have an ambient of 80-82 instead of the gradient that she has now? I am just having doubts that the ultra-therm is going to be enough to raise the ambient temp in the winter having it placed under one side alone.
Borneo's like it a bit cooler than other pythons and mine never goes to the hot spot ( 85 ).
I can't really crank up the temperature in our bedroom as we have to sleep in there and I just wanted to know if this could work..
WHAT DO YOU THINK??
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE,
Yosef
Re: Ultra-therm as sole heat source during the winter months??
I tried your idea and it wasn't enough for my tub. Although we keep our place pretty cool in the winter to save on electric so it makes the room ambient temp 65ish.
To raise the temps I placed some flexxwatt on the underside of the tub's lid. I posted a topic a while back asking if it would be safe and I got the go ahead to try it.
Also, many blood breeders (I think Kara told me she did a while back, but don't quote me on that) keep their youngin's without a temperature gradient and their snakes do fine.
