accidental separation during a lock?

so i just picked up my pastel boy who was in a box with his "girlfriend" (no eggs or ovulation yet) and it looked like he had prolapsed or had both hemipenes sticking waaaaaay waaay out ....i don't know if i accidentally interrupted a lock up, or if it was a prolapse. it wasn't the regular muscular flexing like they sometimes do when stressed. it was about the size of a small walnut, dark red, and i lightly brushed it with the paper towel i was holding, and it slowly retracted entirely. has anyone accidentally interrupted a lock up this way?

When courting, a male will expose his parts prior to copulating. He does not have a prolapse, if he had, he wouldn't have been able to retract his pene(s). Next time double check before removing from tub.
