is it ok to keep two diferent species of snake in the same enclosure?
I was considering geting a red tail boa, or some other kind of boa, and i have a ball python in a fairly large container right now that could most likely accomidate another snake.
oh yeah, if you have a humid hide then do you still need to bump up the humidity? will the snake automatically go for the most humid part of the habitat?

NO it isnt Ok to keep any two snakes together. Main reason is if one gets sick you dont know which one it is.

It is also a good idea to increase the humidity anyway when they are about to shed and no i dont think the sank will go to the most humid part of the tank.

you should never put two different species in the same enclosure....ever. the only reason you see that at pet stores is cause there cheap and bastards.

There are several reasons you should never house two snakes together, regardless of whether they are the same species or not. With boas and pythons, there are even more reasons not to house them together. The most important one is risk of IBD (inclusion body disease). Boas can be carriers and either never exhibit any symtoms or not exhibit symptoms for a very long time. Pythons, on the other hand, will succumb to IBD caught from a boa and die very quickly.

Snakes are generally not social animals. They will do much better on their own.

All good reasons .... another one that works is that there is a recorded case of a boa eating a ball python that it was housed with.

Someone posted pictures up on Clarks forums. I was blown away when I saw them, but made sense when you think about it.
