Day 61 on Incubation and no pipping yet
I have been incubating my ball eggs at 90 degrees and 88% humidity... Today is day 61 and there is no sign of pipping. All the eggs still look great and started to cave in at about day 55.

I candled them the other day and I still see veins and some movement. But the babies do not appear to be taking up much room in the egg.. thought they would look more full...

Should I be concerned and cut the eggs?? Or wait til the first one pips through before cutting? what is the longest I should wait if they do not pip soon...

    thanks

Are you sure you got the egg lay day right? Eggs usually start to collapse two weeks before pipping. And usually pip right around day 56 incubating at 88.5 degrees. I just had my first clutch hatch out, so I'm no expert. But maybe some one with more knowledge will chime in.

    sorry not much help,

The eggs are fuller than you think....trust me. As long as you're still seeing veins and movement they should be good.

As Dave pointed out, you sure you got the lay date right? Seems like they're about a week or two behind schedule...

    Hopefully...
You do not have some genetic defect in the hatchlings where they are born without egg teeth. I am half kidding, but in reality, I am sure it has happened and the result would be, the babies could not get out of the eggs. I think you are probably fine, but in the next few days, if they have not started pipping, you might want to think about small cuts just in case. I am no cutter, but day 63 or so I might become one.

Well I would certainly be interested in the results. I do not have the experience of having eggs wait that long. But, if there is movement you should be good. I know I have cut too early, I did once, because an egg went bad. I regretted it, all survived, but it was probably not that good for the babies. Keep us posted!

The latest pipping I've had was day 67 and that's still well within the "norm". Just be patient. ;)

Well at day 63 they finally started cutting through. YEA!! I guess I just needed to be a little bit more patient.

I thank everyone for their comments, they helped. This was my first clutch and did not know exactly what to expect at the point the eggs were ready to hatch. There were five eggs total, 4 have completely left their shell today and are very healthy and beautiful all normals, I will Post pics later.

The last one is still in his shell, pokes his head out at times but still have not come out. But I am sure he will come out by tomorrow, fingers crossed anyway...
