hygrometer salt test in progress but...
i have this model...
http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/k...myaccurite.jpg
does anyone else have this one & already know what the +/- % difference is on it for the humidity?
also i've read here to do the salt test for 4 hours before checking it but i've read elsewhere its 12 hours...thats a huge difference and i dont wanna leave the humidity in the terrarium unmonitored for 12 hours.
so which is it? 4 or 12 hours?
Re: hygrometer salt test in progress but...
ok so 4 hrs after beginning the salt test i got a reading of 63%, which is 12% lower then the correct level which should've been 75%.
does that mean all of the humidity readings i've gotten since december have been off by 12%?!
Re: hygrometer salt test in progress but...
oh ok so i didnt run the test for long enough?
thats actually comforting knowing i might've messed up rather then the thought that all my logged readings have been 12 % off for the last 8 months...yikes :O.
ok so i'll re-do the test tonight...
will 12 hrs be sufficient? if the humidity gets over 90% the accurite will read it as "HI" & then i wont know exactly what it is at that point...so...
does the salt in the soda cap only create 75% humidity even after 24 hrs?
Re: hygrometer salt test in progress but...
wheres a good spot for the baggy while the test is being done? i need to keep it out of reach of my overly curious son...is the top of the fridge a bad spot?
i know its a little warm up there but...hey since the baggy is sealed up nice & tight can i put the whole thing up in a cabinet?
i just cant leave it out on a counter or anywhere in plain sight...
Re: hygrometer salt test in progress but...
heres a link to something that i think shows specs for this model...

Re: hygrometer salt test in progress but...
alright...
the salt test went for 26 hrs & i got a final humidity reading of 66%.
9% lower then the targeted 75%.
better then the 12% difference i got before.
so from now on i'll just figure in that 9% difference when i log the humidity readings i take daily.
