Is this a normal redtail?
I found this one on craigslist for $30 and it seems to be a pretty decent deal to me.
They say its a male, around 2ft long and can be mean/ "bite sometimes". Could the biting be its temperament or just due to it being younger, or maybe just mistaken someone for food.
I was looking to get a female RTB before but I couldnt find what I wanted for a good price at the reptile show I was at. But right now I basically have everything I would need to keep this guy.
I wasnt sure if it was a normal because it looks really clean and light colored, plus the tail end looks like somewhat reduced and rounded.
Thanks for any responses, tell me what you think.

Yeah, theyre not the best pictures but he looks nice. I would hope he would calm down, Im not sure how I would deal with a out right bitey snake.

Well mine is a little over a year old and he was hell when I first brought him home. I took quite a few bites before he finally realized he wouldn't get what he wanted. He's now very calm and curious, I can take him out anytime confident that he won't strike, unless I smelled like a rat :)
Re: Is this a normal redtail?
It is too bright to be a Columbian or Nicaraguan red tail, maybe a Salmon or another type of island boa.
A 2ft BCI unless underfed is still a baby and most are nippy at that age
Re: Is this a normal redtail?
Good looking boa. And yes he'd calm down. He probably bites thinking it's meal time.
You can't just reach in most boas enclosure and pick them up. Let them know it's not meal time. I use a roll of paper towels or a peice of styrofoam to gently touch my boa's head before trying to pick them up.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's a hypo.

Looks similar to my Salmon. Beautiful snake!

Not a "Red-Tail".
Looks like a Hypo/Salmon BCI.

See, I didnt know about the reaching in part. My ball python just sits there when I reach for her. Hopefully the guy emails me soon.
