A rack bin often acts as a hide itself. Since it's not clear glass all around like a tank, the snake doesn't feel exposed. I use hides for hatchlings in bins, and for a couple snakes who simply seem to like having a hide. The rest ignore the hides so I take them out.

It's not necessary, it depends on the snake in a rack setup. I have some that NEED hides, and some that could care less.

I built myself a rack last weekend. and will have 3bp's in about a month or so, they weigh around 65 to 90grams I think. I bought 3 28qt tubs, can I use these with hides? or is a smaller tub a better idea for the small Bps im getting

For my smaller snakes they usually need a hide, if it's a DIY tub rack you can provide two hides like you would for a tank, especially with them being so small they will probably do better with a hide or two.

My Meatball likes to lay on top of his hides. He thinks they are pointless.
