i say whatever works best for you. i have used newspaper, carpet, bark, and aspen. really all work great. currently i use aspen b/c it is what i use for all my snakes right now and it works very well and it is very easy to clean.

I've tried many different substrates, but always go back to aspen.

I use aspen. It is cheap and my corns love it because they can easily bury themselves under it.

Anything but cedar, pine, or sand should work well. Its whatever is also best for you.

I personally love sani-chips. It "clumps" pretty well with their waste, so spot cleaning is a cinch - I just use a litter scoop to do it.

Ya, aspen is great for burrowing but right now i am using repti bark, and my corn loves it, they can burrow it is a good source of humidity if you need it, and holds its heat well around 90 degrees and its an easy clean. But in the end i would rather go with aspen cause its cheaper and it holds their burrows nicely, and is an easy spot clean. But you go with whatever as long as its not sand, cedar, or pine.

90 is a bit high for corn snakes. Their hot spot should really be in the 83-85 range.
