    Genealogy mishap :(
Wish I had thought of double checking things right before I deleted persons from my bf's family tree... thinking it had copies...

Lemme explain, his parents, lets say his dads families last names (due to his parents) are Red and Blue, while my bf's moms families last names are Red and Green...

Well on line Red, I accidentally deleted his mom and dad's common ancestor (its WAYYYY back there, like 7 generations) And that means, I deleted all the ancestors before that common ancestor (which was back to the 1300s :( -side note, I'm quite happy with this, it's farther back than my mom's gotten with our family :D)

This is ALL on ancestry too, I haven't had the time to write down all of my bf's family tree... (it had alot of people, so it'd take awhile)

BUT I *think* I wrote down the "red" line, just to show him how far back that, and a couple other lines went...

Hopefully ancestry.com can restore the people I accidentally deleted to the trees... it'd save me a whole lot of time...

On a side note, any one else do genealogy?? :D And how many generations have you gotten to? Any interesting ancestors?

My cousin and mother in law are into that stuff but i like to focus more on the present so i dont follow it, I know my cousin added me to some other site not ancestry.com but its the same thing. On my wifes side, they go back to Quanah Parker and before that as well. Unfortunately, ive seen alot of people where i live that im sure their family tree goes straight up hehehe...good luck on getting it fixed.

I do live for the now, but... I can't help it, I love history :D

And I know my bf was relieved after I found out how far back his family tree is connected...

As soon as I asked his mom for his Grandmother's maiden name and such, and he heard it was the same as his last name is, his face went from :D this is kinda cool to: :O PLEASE tell me you're kidding (it was priceless too :P)

And thanks, hopefully I know by tomorrow if it can be fixed.

Plz dont feel like i was putting you down or making fun of you for doing this, i know alot of people that do it and enjoy doing it, all i meant was that i personally dont care or dare to even try to trace anyone especially since i wont ever speak or see them so what i have left of my family is all i care about but still i think its cool like when my wife shows pics of her uncles hunting with past presidents and dignitaries and then knowing that both our families have native american histories thrown in the mix.

I don't do it, but some of the older members of my family have. I've got a direct descendant in the founding Jamestown colony and my great-great.....-great uncle was a general in the American Revolution. His brother (great-great...-great grandfather) was a loyalist and fled to Canada with his family.

Oh, I don't feel like that at all. Everyone has things they enjoy, and their own opinons, and they're entitled to those. Doing geneaology is just one of those side every once in a while hobbies (like once a month at most) that I enjoy doing.
