Some of you have had the opportunity to see this animal in person occasionally over the past few years.

We have also shared pictures of her on several other reptile forums through the years, with various but extremely interesting feedback. The consensus tends to lead towards her being recessive, we figured the best way to prove this was to breed her to another recessive gene...we did and used a Genetic Stripe.

This breeding gave us a nice clutch of 9 beautiful but normal looking babies...of course high in males; that fall we did manage to get one of these DH males up to breeding size and bred him back to mom. This produced another 9 egg clutch which resulted in only one visual that looked like mom...not our best odds...but one is all you need to prove the gene.
We wanted to breed for blushing and blushing is what we achieved on this first 2010 girl, her blush is much more intense than her mom's: making this snake vividly contrasting between the black and yellow. It's the yellow on these animals that makes them so intense looking a yellow which they retain into adulthood.
2010 proven with this girl, she's also poss het G-Stripe

This season, we bred mom to another project but even more interesting is that we were successful in breeding some of the hets back to each other...and the results were conclusive in confirming this new gene as a Recessive,
Full circle confirmed 2011 hatchings from het to het breeding, these guys are much brighther than last years baby.

We have been entertaining the name "Buttermilk" because of the creamy and buttery appearance of the yellow...but somehow this name seems to fall short.
