    Hi Everyone,

I am looking for advise on getting my first BP. i did a bunch of research, but i know getting info from someone that already has a BP is the best type of research. I need advice on the everything. feeding, habitat, and handling. also i am looking for the best BP Breader in the Houston TX. Everyones input is welcome.

Try reading through some of the thousands of threads here and ask some specific questions if you have any afterwards. This is really vague and seems pretty lazy.

    Hi,
Have a read through the caresheet for BP's and also the search function on here is your best friend! Welcome to the fourms by the way.

Read THIS first and then ask questions from there.

Welcome to the forum! Like others have said...just read through posts in the husbandry section and use the search engine and you'll find awesome info. If you have specific questions it makes it easier for us to answer. Good luck! :)

Like others said, read the care sheet.

On top of that, since it comes up a lot. BPs can/will stop eating for months. No amount of reading can prepare you for when it happens. It's annoying and frustrating at first, but it's something you really need to consider before you bring home a BP. If you decide to feed live, you will need to have a plan to handle refused live food and if you feed f/t you should be prepared for the fact that sometimes you will "waste" money when you need to throw out refused food.

I'm not saying BPs don't make great pets, because they do and I love mine, but problem feeders are frustrating.

    x2

Also, shedding is an issue the first few times. As a new BP owner myself (only had my baby about a month now), it freaked me out, but this forum helped a lot and now she's doing grand. Asking specific questions is always way better than asking about general care on the forum, and (at least on this forum) you'll usually get a response in 15 minutes.
