Transporting to vet?

I haven't made an appt. yet for Loki, since last time I called the vet's office, their exotic vet was out of town for the next 3wks.

I'm calling later today when they open, to try and make an appt. for Loki, but I wanted to know a safe way to transfer him to the vet, that won't stress him out terribly.

Would putting him in a pillow case, and then into the 6qt. sterilite tub I put him in when I'm cleaning his tank be fine? Or just into the sterilite? I figured the pillow case would keep it dark, since the sterilite is clear.

However he does just fine in it for short periods of time (5 to 15min), yet the trip to the vet is 30min there and back. Would it be better to put the pillow case over him, instead of putting him inside it?


On another note, this vet trip will just be a general check up, since there really isn't any hurt in getting him checked, especially when the appointment is $25 at most.

Shoot, if I remember correctly, my bf and I got a discounted, or free appt -can't remember which- for his Bearded Dragon, since it was just a check on his growth. And wasn't more than 15 minutes total.

Take an old pillow case and put them in it.

I always take my snakes to the vet in a snake bag or pillow case.

bag it and make sure that the knot is nice and tight...i use reusuable zip ties that can lock and unlock and work fine.

Looks like I'll be practicing tying a knot that'll stay when I want and come undone when I want... Not very good with even simple ones...

$25 for a vet appointment? I must say I'm jealous. I tried a new one out by me because my girl had some unusual breathing sounds - $66 for the exam and $150 for the culture swab. Can you say ridiculous?! And then he told me my male had septicemia because his belly scales were pink while IN FULL SHED. Needless to say, I'm still vet-shopping.

Maybe I shouldn't mention he's given my bf and I an appt free of charge for my bf's Bearded Dragon too... :D

Now... My vet for my dog, is ridiculous... $25 JUST to see her, $149 for all her shots, plus blood work. Oh $96 for her flea/heartworm/ intestinal worm prevention for 6mos, and I'm currently saving up about $530 for her to have her teeth cleaned since she'll need extra blood work done due to her age...

I'm going to ask my bf's mom how much she paid to have her cat's teeth cleaned and pulled, since she has an old cat and uses the same clinic that our herp vet is at.
