    General R.I. Question...
Hey gang! Just a quick question regarding respiratory infections. When you hear a bit of wheezing and adjust the heat and humidity can this possibly be enough to treat the R.I. in the early stages or do they ALWAYS have to go get antibiotics? She is still eating and active but a wheeze can be heard while holding her. Her humidity dropped below where I have the rest while I was out of town and wanted to see if you guys had any experience without going to the vet. Thanks! JH

Yes, with early detection and optimization of heat/humidity levels, snakes can defeat early stage R.I.'s without any medical attention.

It's also worth noting that not all "wheezes" are the result of R.I.s. - just like not every cough means a person has a cold.

KCB is correct about this. Stress, a snake that ate too much, or other unknown causes can be underlining factors for wheezing. If any other signs occur then I would consider getting her checked out or treating her at home, but if her symptoms become any worse I would take her to a vet. Which I highly doubt.

Just maintain your proper day and night temps and humidity. If you start hearing popping noises and notice mucous or bubbles in the mouth then you might want to have her checked out. There are some at home treatments you can use at an early to mid stage of RI if you don't want to take her to the vet. I know Brian at BHB uses this method. You need F10 Biocare and a Fogger.
