What behavioral effect does shedding have on a BP
So my BP shedded for the first time, for me, 2 days ago. I noticed in the past month though, his behavior changed. He would hide more excessively instead of coming out nightly. He stopped eating for a month as well. Now it seems he's starting to return to his old self. I'm gonna attempt a feed in a few days. But is this normal to see this type of behavior change?

Mine usually get cranky when the go into blue. Some will still eat, others won't. When most of mine are getting close to shedding the don't come out of there hides at all. I haven't really noticed mood changes a month in advanced though.

That sounds like normal BP behavoir. A hiding BP is a happy BP and sometimes they just stop eating. You'll find a lot of threads about BPs not eating.

Behavior difference you will see when they are shedding are more defensive because they can't see every well when they are in the blue.

Yep, all normal. I wouldn't say going off food for a month to shed, but they are all different. I have a Pinstripe that goes off for three months at a time for no reason, then eats like crazy for a while.

I'm not sure about a month of that, but the rest of the pre-shed behaviour sounds normal. But others have had experiences of a month so I guess its fine. At least hes returning to his old self.

I've just had the strangest shed in my experience with ball pythons. At first I had a pretty chill snake, quickly warms up to getting handled, then he went blue and hid all day. But when I open up his enclosure, its just non stop hissing. After he finished his shed, the behaviour stuck! Less hissing, but freaking out so much everytime something touches him (unless its food). And doesn't relax even after a while. Its just non stop sprinting away.
