First blood.. can they climb at ALL? ( have a big tank I might use later but need lid
I got my first blood from a member on another forum..
she right at / lil over a year I think. Have to ask.
I know she needs a smaller tank for now..
    but in the future..
I do have a 6ft x 2x? (125 gal) on a wood stand that I am considering making a display tank for her..
but wondering what type of lid I'd have to have made IF I use it..
it has a wood lid that goes around 3 side of the tank (not the back) with a lifting wood cover, and then I have glass lids and light strips on top as it was used for fish previously..

    just a thought.

Give a snake the opportunity to escape & sooner or later it will. Every cage opening should have a secure cover that cannot be compromised by the inhabitant of said cage. :)

Would you post pics please of the tank, so we can have a better idea what you are working with. Also congrats on the new snake. Post some pics of her. :D :gj:

Kara is right. Remember this species has a lot of muscle, don't let their slow and calm nature fool you. They can push their way through any unsecured cage even if it's a heavy wood top that isn't secured.

My cage has a wood top with two lock latches.

Bloods do not climb, however you should put a lid on anyway in my opinon.. better safe than sorry

My blood is confused and believes he is a tree snake sometimes. When I first brought him home from New England reptile Expo he got himself into the handle above the passenger side seat of the car and stayed there quite happily. So I would not assume and latch her down. They get ideas sometimes :)
