    did I miss out
we back in nov. I decided not to try and breed my '10 pin female (1100g in nov.) I was content with that, Until today lol. I opened her tube and there she was in full blown ovy, I know she has been packing it on this winter, didnt miss a meal. I through her on the scale and she tipped 1600.

My question is did I do the right thing waiting or should I have started pairing her late season when she hit 1500. Or should I pitch my stud in there right now and cross my fingers.

Basicly, what would you do in this type of situation.

I think it was smart of you to wait, b/c if you breed too early and the female gets pregnant, that could lead to body deformation and prove fatal! The perfect conditions for breeding are 1500g on her second winter. :snake:

If you didn't breed her how is she ovulating? Or am I misunderstanding?

If she's ovulated the eggs will either be fertile or not. There's nothing more you can do at this point. She's a year old and I would have waited but if Shes ovd she's done until she lays.

Basically I think you did right waiting.

My understanding that a female can go gravid and reabsorb or slugg out if she hasnt been bred, I may have been miss informed, but both of these would require ovy, no. Clarification is always welcome.

Yes I believe that's right. Females can ovy without being bred. They will just slug out. After ovy they will not reabsorb.
