A Clutch of Mojaves and a Question
I thought I'd post a pic of my most recent mojave clutch because I thought the variation among the babies was interesting. Someone in another section asked about differences in appearance between mojave and mystic. I've been wondering how you know what you've got if you breed a mojave to a mystic. Even within the babies of one morph, in one clutch, there are variations among the babies. Any thoughts from the mystic breeders out there?

On another note, I got 4 mojaves out of 5 eggs from a mojave to a normal. These two parents gave me 1.4 mojaves out of 6 eggs a few years ago. It may be just odds, but in some cases it seems like some pairings consistently beat the odds while others always lose.

We bred our Mystic male to a Sulfur Mojave and and several Mojaves this season so I will be dealing with what you are asking about in the next few months. I'll let you know how it works out.

I've seen big name breeders selling Mojave's possibly Mystics for double the price of a normal mojave. That's a pretty big risk if you ask me. The only way to predictably produce mystics is to breed to something other than a Mojave. I just don't think you can tell 100% sure otherwise.
