    Hello From Dalas/Fort Worth
So I received my first baby ball python about a week ago.
Haven't attempted a feeding yet but that comes tomorrow.
I must say i'm in love with all the different variations and didn't know there were sooo many.
but that being said I have made mistakes already.
1st was not doing the proper research before committing to a snake.
actually i guess all my mistakes so far stems from not doing enough research.
however tomorrow i am going out and buying a tank heating pad and thermostat/rheostat and that should rectify my main problem and main mistake.
are there any recommendations on temp controllers?

    Stay Classic,
    Dank

Hello Dank, and :welcome: to BP.net.

Here are some links to websites that sell a variety of thermostats. They vary in price from about $30 to over $300, depending on what types of extras you want.

So I believe my boa has mites. :(

So my little beauty hasn't eaten yet.
although I will say that's my fault for handling handling him so much and not allowing him time to acclimate to his new home.
Next Thursday I will attempt again and hopefully be successful.
I'm ordering provent-a-mite today to fix the mite problem and prevent any more problems.

I've decided on naming it Armani if it turns out to be a lil' boy and Calliope if it's a lil' girl.
any recommendations on good reptile vets in the Northern Fort Worth area?

Wow someone in my Backyard! YAY!

I should probably have a vet on my Rolodex for snakes but I'm still in the learning Phase of Bps. :) For vets I would just Google see who pops up with a good rep and call for questions.

One tip others have said is call and ask the cost of lab tests and make sure you save a fecal in a ziplock bag (can be frozen- but others correct me on that if I'm wrong). Its been said some vets just look over and say "great" and you have an $80 bill :( Sometimes its easier/cheaper to drop off a fecal sample for lab tests only.

Keep researching, read as many threads as possible in each of the forums and you'll be on the right track!:gj: Welcome!
