    scar question
    Hey guys,

I got a question about a scar on my baby pastel.
I bought him about a month ago from a good breeder i know. He's weight was about 53g when i got him ( a little under for being fed 3 times, but he's a good eater and he's gaining weight (114g now :)) so i don't care). But today before feeding time I noticed a scar of a cut in he's belly about 4-6 scales long about 5-7 scales above the cloaca, nothing really serious, just like a stripe and one scale has a little v where the scar is. I suppose it will go away by time. But now I'm starting to get questions. In my tub is nothing that can cause a scar like that. And I really trust the breeder I got him from, i saw his tubs so there is nothing in there that can cause such scar. Could it have happened with him opening the eggs or something? Or could it be he had like an illnes or so before i got him? Because he was a little under weight when I got him... just curious now...

If you want I will post pics tomorrow when the mouse is digestet a bit more!
    Thnx in advance

From what you are telling us, it sounds like it's the umbilicus (belly button). It will go away over time :)

    Hi,

Here are three pics of some of my hatchlings where you can see the belly button - does it look like this?

Well definitly not like the first and the second picture, the scales dont come together like that, but that may be cause he's already a month and a half old or so. In your pictures the scales go together like it is with a human belly button, on his belly it's like a straight cut with a V on one scale.

It has to be the belly button, if it was a wound it would be swollen and still healing.

    Hi,

Yes in the first two they are still very young and you can see the spot where the umbilicus was attatched.

The third snake is a little older.
