Spider morphs...are they typically skiddish and tempermental?

So I have 17 BPs.....4 of them hate to be handled....and out of those 4, 3 are spider females. I think my pastel male (as mentioned in another thread) has just got a mean streak in him (let's face it, he's just not a nice guy, lol). But the 3 spider females are ALL skitsy as heck....2 of them are 2010 kids, about 600 grams. They were handled by the previous owner/breeder and I handle them daily but they just don't get any better. They aren't mean.....but they will fling themselves around if I move my hand too quickly and they are just very skiddish. The adult female I have is downright crazy, lol. I was fairly warned by the previous owner/breeder who also tried to handle her as much as possible but she still will hiss and strike. Just curious as to whether or not this is a "spider morph" thing....or I just happen to have 3 that hate being handled. :rolleyes: My others all love attention, they are cuddly and love to hang out around my neck or wrap around my arm, etc. No problems being picked up or anything....they never flinch (even if you touch their heads) and never get scared. But these spider chicks....(having been a vet tech for 9 years) they remind me of chihuahuas! ;)

I have a male extreme reduced pattern spider and hes not really skiddish. Retarded is more fitting for him. He has an extreme case of "star gazing" several times I have had to bump his tub to make sure hes not dead. He likes to lay upside down and he doesn't move. Man gotta love the spider gene.

I have worked around several spiders, and most have been more on the friendly side lol. This seems to just be a hit or miss kind of thing, but in my experience, no, spiders are not more skittish than other morphs.

Thats two funny...i think my spider is semi challenged two...but he is a great boy....

LOL I say our poor little spider is retarded too! I swear she tried to tie herself in a knot looking for the rats head when she ate. LOL and she has to have f/t because we gave her a live one once and it was horrible. She just squeezed its head and arm until it turned purple but even after 6 minutes it was still alive.

Retarded yes, mean no. She is one of the absolute sweetest. She is the only one my hyperactive 5 year old is allowed to hold because of her sweet demeanor.

My Bumble Bee is my best eater and doesn't mind ever being handled even when he's in shed. He might hiss when I grab him in shed but that's the extent of it. Good snake all around and doesn't display any of negative spider traits.

My first spider male was just as bad as my new spider male, unlike the usual python that once is grabbed tends to ball up, these guys like to take off "exploring" but in no way did i feel they were skittish. All my other bps tend to ball up or just stay there while i rub them down but with these 2 its all about moving. Unfortunately my first male had a bad case of star gazing and eventually passed away where my new one is very calm and doesnt star gaze at all.

what's "star gazing"?? i have noticed that with one of the 2 younger females that they are not very talented when eating. if she doesn't grab the head exactly spot on, she won't eat the rat. IDK if its cause she can't figure out where the head is....or she just gives up....if I grab the rat with the tongs and move it she will strike at it again....lastnight it took 3 "strikes" before she nailed the nose and was happily chowin down. maybe i have some spiders that missed the smarts gene....lol

thanks for everyone's input....oh and I will agree...when I do have them out, they can MOVE. my other BPs are so slow moving but these spiders remind me of the black racers outside....they slither away QUICK! lol

My spider het pied female is my "bring out" snake around kids. She is the most gentle snake I have.
