impaction?

I have two ball pythons that some of you may remember I was having a hard time getting to eat well they have been eating on their own for two weeks now. But my concern is they have no gone to the bathroom at all in the time I've had them. They seem to be acting fine, eating with no problem, occasionally coming out to room around, but not using the bathroom. Around their butt seems a little swollen like the might need to be its not hard or anything? I'm just not sure what to do. I have them both on aspen bedding, the temperatures are steady, and the humidity is about 60%

a buddy of mine has a blood that didnt go to bathroom for literally 364days

If they weren't eating for a bit they may not poop for a while. A soak in luke warm water helps if they are a little dehydrated or impacted but they may just be absorbing most of their food since they were off feed. They will poop when their ready:snake:

Thanks guys that's what I was thinking but I would rather be safe than sorry you know? I have been trying to give them a good luke warm soak at least once a week they seem to love it.

Well we are talking about ball Pythons, not blood pythons.

Bloods are known to hold in their waste, while in ball pythons this is not as common.

I agree though and think they are absorbing the food. When my BP goes on a hunger strike and starts eating again, he doesn't go to the bathroom for quite a while.

yearlings dont poop often. My 2010s will go every other month. And hatchlings since their hungry and growing will poop maybe every 2 months some sooner some longer. Each snake will be different.


If you want a snake that poops get a corn snake, and they poop about everyday.

Plus I'd recommend quitting the weekly baths.

Odds are they don't like it as much as you think they do. More likely than not it's stressing them out.

okay thank you, it was actually recommended to me by someone who has had snakes for awhile to help with dehydration which they had when i first got them but I guess I could stop it now....
