    Impaction Question
So I got my little girl to finally take a f/t meal! Yay for me. It was a mouse and not a rat so the job isn't completely done. My question is this. For substrate I am using Carefresh Basic at the moment. It really likes to stick to things. I was kind of worried he would take some down with the meal so I used the forceps to get it off. Is that OK? He didn't like it. If I had left it it might have not gone down but I down know. Can some of you more experienced keepers let me know what is best. Thanks

I have used several beddings for my ball pythons. My favorite bedding when I was paying for it was shredded paper I simply got a shredder and shredded junk mail and stuff works great cheap and if they ingest it, it digest and passes. Now I work for a reptile breeding facility, and my bosses pay for my bedding as a perk for having me around lol.. I now use shredded aspen and like it alot but those are deffinatly my 2 favorite I also like cypress mulch but not as well as the aspen.. I would not recommend the shredded cocoa nut it sticks in the receptive heat pits, I would not recommend the large chunk bedding like repti bark.

If you want the dark look I would use cypress mulch... You may not hate the cocoa fiber I wont use it because it gets stuck in the receptor pits on their nose,

I use a variety of bedding; aspen, cypress mulch, paper towels, I even used the reptile carpet. I like aspen or paper towels best. I once worried about ingestion of bedding, but they digest the bones of the feeder and I also thought in the wild I wouldnt be there to make sure he doesnt eat any bedding.

I partially agree, but also think about the fact that the bedding we use is not natural to them in the wild.

I have loose bedding, so I feed both of my guys in a separate bedding-free box.
