Is she gravid? My BP was laying on her back.
I have a normal possible Het Pied in quarantine. She weighing in at 1500 grams. Today when I checked on her she was laying on her back in a large circle. It looked just like the picture I saw of a BP that is gravid. Is there any other time that they do this? I really hope she is not. I was hoping breed her to my lesser and when I bought her she was being housed with a large normal male. I really don't want my clutch of the year to be all normals. Plus I don't have my incubator up and ready yet. Do you think I need to get it set up? If she is gravid how long do I have?

pics would help, but if she was housed with a male there is a good possibility she is gravid

Can you feel follicles? Are there any other signs she is gravid?

Seeing a ball python lay on her back by itself does not mean she is gravid. Ive had females do this when they are gravid, but Ive also seen this in females that werent even breeding this year. Ive even seen a male or two do it. In short, look for other signs before you determine if she is gravid or not.

I have a 3,000+ gram male that lays on his back after every meal. If she was housed with a male, then it's obvious that there is a possibility of her being gravid.

Your "normals" would at least be PH Pied though.

true. id palpated and see what's going on. worse case scenario you have to get your incubator up and running for some possible het pieds, which really isn't all that bad :)

    best of luck

Thanks for all the help. I will keep an eye on her. I have to research more to know how to feel for follicles and what are some of the other signs that she is gravid. This is my first.

I will see if I can get pictures.
