Is it possible?

Hi everyone I'm new here but have come across this site a few times when I was looking for information and this seemed to be the place to go with my query.

I'll start by giving a bit of info. I have a female normal BP, she is approx 30" long (not sure of exact age). She lives in a 20 gallon long tank ambient temp is 83 and closer to 90 on the warm side. I use coco fiber bedding that is about 3" deep at the deepest, 2 half log hides 1 of which has a small UTH under it (bedding is about 1.5" deep in this area) and a plastic water dish buried to the rim, she gets fresh dechlorinated water daily. She just shed last Thursday and I fed her on schedule on Sunday. She eats 1 sub adult F/T mouse each week with no hesitation. Today I came home and noticed she pooped with a urate attached to it, it was a normal poop for her, when I went to clean it out I noticed in the back corner of the tank what looked to be a regurge but I'm not quite sure. It was the same shape and size as the poop but it was clearly white and still had fur on the outside. I've read that regurge smells far worse than poop, this did not in fact the poop smelled worse. I put some gloves on and 'examined' it. It seemed pretty well digested just covered in fur no skeletal remains were found nothing that resembled a mouse other than fur, and it broke apart easily. I've never seen anything like this and I'm kinda worried. So is it possible that she just forced her recent meal out not fully digested when she made her first bowl movement? Or is it a definite regurge? She seems fine, acting normal, she was roaming the tank when I came to clean and has since retreated to her warm hide. Any help would be appreciated.

Probably just undigested fur that was passed with the stool. A regurged food item will definitely make you gag especially if you investigate it. LOL.

Ha ha thanks thats a relief. I've never had a snake regurgitate a meal before so I wasn't sure of what it would look or smell like so the fur scared me a bit. Shes still acting normal going back and forth between hides and looking for weak spots in the screen top lol.

Lol yup, it's nothing to worry about. Hair is particularly hard to digest, so it will usually come out in the poop. This one just sounds like a hairier one :P Sometimes hair in poop will do funny things. I remember I once found a log from my male normal with perfect whiskers on either side :rofl:

This sounds like an awfully small meal for a 30" ball python. She could easily eat a small rat, or a couple large adult mice.

Yea it's a bit small I just have a couple left in my freezer and didn't want them to go to waste. She can handle adult mice fine but I think the small rats they have at petco are still a bit big for her. I'll give her the last 2 on Sunday and get some adult mice for the next few feedings. I'll try a small rat after her next shed and see how she handles it.


P.S. I don't like going to petco but its the only place that I can get feeders locally
