    Help MITES!!
Ok really pissed here! I have been keeping ASFs for 2 years now noooooo problem for my very modest 15 count BP collection. And every 3 months or so I go to my favorite store and pick up a bunch of mice or rats to feed everyone so they dont get stuck on ASFs. The store is always, clean doesn't smell and they use rat racks like most of us us with the blk tubs. Well 2 weeks ago she had an explosion of ASFs and gave me 20 or so ASFs for free. I picked them out! I checked them over and decided to start a new tub with 1.3 because these females were expecting. I fed off the others. Now that tub has mites!!! They have not spread to my other 4 colonies but what do I do to get rid of them? The 3 females have all had litters so the babies now have them too. Now what? Do I just humanly put them all done? I cant feed them off....Any help appreciated

Nix bedding spray or Provent-a-mite.. Just remember DON'T EVER FEED a rodent you are treating for mites to your snakes.. EVER!! wait till they are clear, you've stopped using the PAM or NIX and they have had a couple of bedding changes and the tub has been cleaned good..

Last thing you want is a rat covered in dry PAM going in your wet snake gut..

Hot Shot BedBug and Fleas spray. Spray the tubs, not the rodents, they will dissapear in a few days to a week.
Use it weekly to prevent reinfestation.

I wouldn't recommend NIX for the reptiles, not sure about the feeders though. Provent a Mite is definitely the way to go.

Here's a good thread on why..

    PAM is 0.5% permiterin
Hot Shot Bedbug and flea spray is 0.25% permitherin, and it costs a fraction of the PAM...
    Just sayin.

I use PAM in my reptile enclosures once a month, I buy and sell the stuff direct from Bob, great guy...

I just went through this :( Do not use PAM for the ASF's ! Use Nix. They sell Nix 2 per pack use 1 per gallon spray the bedding and mix it up. Let it sit for about 5 min then add the rats. It does not have to be 100% dry when you put them back in the rack. It worked awesome for me and you can still feed off the rats you want.
