Cool Female Rat

Not sure what she is but she has a awesome coat with pink eyes. Father is a Rex that carries siamese,pink eye and im sure others ive yet to uncover.

She's a molting Siamese. Since she's pretty dark, she should end up with some nice points. :)

By the way, she has Ruby/Red eyes.

How common is her genes. Ive never produced one of her ever. When she came along i knew i had to hold onto her

Siamese aren't rare, but they are a must in every colony, in my opinion.

It's unfortunate, but when Siamese were first discovered, they were over bred and it not only ruined how dark their points used to be, people started having problems with them being aggressive and unhealthy. Their temperament and health are less of a problem now that they are so genetically diverse though.

If you want to make your line have darker points/more attractive, breed her to a self (solid colored) black rat. It should be void of any markings, even feet and belly. In the litter she throws, hold back some of the self black rats (which will all be het. Siamese). At that point, you can breed them to each other (or another Siamese line) and it will darken the line's points.

I could swap her out to another tub as all my breeder males are solid black rexs that carry her genes. Rather breed her back to the dad i can help keep her blood line stronger and longer in the collection.

Ive just never produced a Siamese like this girl with her coloring. Most of mine were white right off the bat and that was how i knew. Now that i know what she is ill have to work with her as she freaks when held and begins to poop.

Ill work with her when im working my my double rex female.

Himalayans start out white and develop their points after their first molt.

Siamese (depending on the grade of Siamese) will start out creamy and have a dark grey rear and either a creamy or brown shoulder area.

I'm glad you asked this. I was wondering the same thing. Are these colonies kept as pets or sold as feeders? My reason for asking is because if they are being sold as feeders, what importance is the coat marking? I could understand if they are being kept as pets why they would be bred for a certain trait. Just curious :)

All the siamese type rats or pet quality ones are kept here to breed and sell as pets locally.

Standard fancies and what not are fed off.



On side note this video is 4 months old, but the 2 rats you see in the beginning with red/pink eyes. What would they be as i kept one and shes now a white rex siamese pink eye.
