    Epic Venom...
... from an angry G. Rosea (who, I've just been informed, is actually a G. Porteri now thanks to people deciding they're more than just different colour phases).

We put her in her new enclosure because crickets were escaping through the ventilation holes in her old cage, and she did not enjoy it at all. She's such a funny one.

I don't think she got the memo that she's supposed to be like the rest of her species and be a nice docile lamb of a spider. If you disturb her cage (god forbid you try to re-arrange her bedding!) she goes up to you flinging her front legs up at you, and if you try to prod her with a chopstick to make her move, instead of going forwards she turns around to see what it is that poked her. My dad chose a real winner lol

Its possible that is not venom, i thought their venom had more color than that. I have seen my tarantulas exude a liquid while cleaning themselves and use their pedipalps to spread it around and wash with it...

I love all things... except spiders. I have such an irrational fear. The picture makes me nervous. I want to change that. Hopefully I'll work up the nerve to hold one some day.

I thought it could have been that too because she had just finished eating a couple days before the move, but I wasn't sure... The picture doesn't show colour that well, it was fairly colored to the naked eye, kind of yellow-ish. Either way I found it immensely cool :P

If you can get over your fear of spiders then keeping them is one of the coolest things ever IMO. I used to be dead scared of spiders myself, but I eventually just got used to them by telling myself that they had nothing to gain by hurting me, and then I eventually became comfortable enough with them to get a couple tarantulas. Now I'm hooked :P

cool to T Alexandra,im thinking about getting one as soon as my fish leaves his 10gl and into his 55gl ill have a 10gl wasting space.:D

i felt similar towards scorpions.i loved to watch em but the first time i felt one crawl upside down on the bottom of my hand at a pet store years ago i had a "get it off,get it off" reaction and dropped the poor bug.he/she didnt fall far from the substrate and walked away unscathed.that incident bothered me for years.i felt bad for the critter and upset with myself for being such a sissy and putting it in harms way.
i broke down and had to get over my uneasiness with them so i recently got two emperor scorps and i dont mind holding em or hand feeding them.my skin doesnt crawl and im over it.i enjoy keeping them as company.one day you will get over the unknown and love it as well.:gj:
